All about the Iron Age
As part of our study on Romans, Year 3 visited the Iron Age Museum in Andover. We went to learn about the Celts for our topic work. We all learnt how round houses were built and then one class made our own round houses out of clay, raffia, sticks and cardboard whilst the other class made belts.
We also learnt that the Celts loved swirly patterns and we used the swirl pattern to make our own brooches and belt buckles using cardboard, paint and pipe cleaners. We learnt about how the Celts made and used clay pots. We then sketched pictures of the pots and used them to create ink prints. We also used bubble wrap, cardboard, string, textured wall paper and foam.
It was a brilliant day and really helped us to understand how life was different for the people of Britain during this period.
