Business of Learning
Tuesday 22nd March was a very important day for Charleigh Staff, Jack Moffat, Phoebe Clarke and Joseph Joy as it was the day they represented Portway at The Business of Learning Conference at The Lights Theatre.
The day is organised by Sue Sheppard, from Andover Vision, and is an opportunity for schools to meet with many representatives of local businesses and talk about the relationships that exist between them.
Over the last two years, we have built up strong relationships with Stannah Stairlifts Ltd and, every year, work with them on a project themed with National Science and Engineering Week.
The Business of Learning conference was a chance for Charleigh, Jack, Phoebe and Joe to tell the town about our great work with Stannah and the value it adds to our learning at Portway.
The presentation the children gave included a short film of our most recent project with Stannah and photographs of the week spent working together. The whole presentation was of a very high quality and earned the children many compliments from all sorts of business people about their professionalism and ability to speak well to such a large audience.
Sue Sheppard said: "Wow! You would have been so proud of your students today, they were excellent. They were the only primary school presenting, making them the youngest. However, their confidence and presentational skills were, by far, better than most of us on the stage today!"
Our interview on Andover Sound can still be heard on their website - just search for 'Business of Learning.'
Further information about our work with Stannah can be seen under the blue Year 5 tag to the lefthand side of our homepage.
