French

At Portway, we use an on-line resource called Tout le Monde which has been written by the Heinemann group. It contains bright, innovative materials with pictures, photos, videos and songs. There is native French speaker audio support for each set of new vocabulary to ensure the children are learning the correct pronunciation.

 The children enjoy learning French trough the interactive activities, games, quizzes, action poems and karaoke songs. This is supported by follow up reading and writing work for independent learning.

 Last Bastille day, we had a French day where the children took part in a variety activities such as Eiffel tower building, going to a French café to eat croissants and drink hot chocolate, art work in the style of well known French artists and studying French menus. The children were encouraged to speak the French that they knew. It was a great way of celebrating our work in French so far.
