Katie Piper Visit
On Thursday 3rd March 2011 we were very excited to welcome Katie Piper back to Portway Junior School - her old school! We were able to spend time talking with Katie and finding out about her Portway memories, favourite lessons and how much our school has changed over time. The Andover Advertiser and Andover Sound were here as well to mark the occasion for us - so keep your eyes and ears open! You may know Katie's story because she is local to Andover.

We are fundraising throughout this term and next for the Katie Piper Foundation who help people with burns and disfigurements. Katie visited Portway so that she could tell us all about the Foundation and how the money we raise will help other people like her.
There are three big events coming up that we would very much like your support for! These are:
A Silly Sock Day - Friday April 1st
Spell-A-Thon - a sponsored spell to discover Portway's Spelling Champion and raise lots of money developing an important life skill.
The Portway Community Cookbook - a chance for you to share with the rest of our community your favourite family recipes.
We would like to encourage everyone to get as involved as possible with this exciting opportunity and to raise as much money as we possibly can for such a worthwhile cause!
We very much enjoyed meeting with Katie and have been inspired by her bravery, confidence and passion in helping others who are struggling with the same issues. We are very keen that we do our best to make a difference in people's lives.
