Kwik Cricket Report
Recently 2 teams made of girls and boys in years 5 and 6 represented the school at the annual Kwik Cricket competition, held at Andover Cricket Club.
Portway 1 won all of their 3 group stage matches and so led the group by the end of the morning. In the quarter finals they got a very tricky draw against the eventual winners, Anton. It was a good game but in the end it was an easy win for the opposition.
Portway 2 also won all of their group games and so they also qualified for the quarter finals. They were against Rookwood School and it was a very good match but Portway won to get to the semi-finals. They played St John's and it was the most difficult game of the day. They played well but found the opposition under-arm bowling quite difficult and in the end lost by a few runs.
Everyone was delighted by the way all the pupils played. It was also very encouraging to see some excellent sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Many thanks to the parents who helped with transport and to Miss Burford, Mr Deery and Mr Barrett who looked after the teams.
