New Age Kurling
On Wednesday 22nd February the Olympic Bronze Ambassadors from Portway Junior School, Mia Larkin & Taylor Larkin, organised a New Age Kurling competition for local schools including Knights Enham Junior and Portway Infant School. Each team was made up of a mix of ages, including infant children.
New Age Kurling is a form of the original curling game, but adapted so that it can be played indoors on any smooth, flat surface, such as a sports hall, rather than on ice.
Importantly, the game can be played by all ages at the same time.
The competition went very well indeed and all competitors said how much they enjoyed it. The three teams did very well but the Portway Green got to the final and just managed to edge out Knights Enham Junior.
Mia and Taylor are Olympic Bronze Ambassadors and part of their duties is to promote sports for all and to help create an Olympic legacy. Their aim is to try and promote the London 2012 Olympics throughout the school and integrate the Olympic Values into student life.
