Portway meets Prince Charles!
The Prince of Wales visited the family-run Stannah Group to mark the manufacture of their 500,000 stairlift.
His Royal Highness as Patron of Abbeyfield and The Almshouse Association presented a stairlift to both charities. His Royal Highness toured the factory and meet staff members at Watt Close, East Portway.
The school has close links with the company and we were delighted to part of their special day.
This is the report on the visit by our 2 pupils:
On Monday during 1/2 term we went with Mr Deery to Stannah to meet Prince Charles. Firstly we met the Mayor of Test valley and our local MP, Sir George Young and told them all about the school. Then came the best moment of all when we met Prince Charles. He asked us about our Science and Technology project with Stannahs and all about our school. He was also very interested in Rachel's house captain badge and also asked James about homework! After the excitement we went for lunch in a huge and very posh marquee!
We were also interviewed by the Andover Advertiser about the day and meeting the prince.
Prince Charles was very nice and relaxed and very friendly. We had a great day and we also got a tour around the factory form Mr Tim Eagles, who is one of the Managing Directors.
