Portway visits Portway!

On Monday 4th July, the school councillors of our school were pleased to welcome 24 councillors and 6 members of staff from our cousin school - Portway Primary in London.

We have made a link with Portway Primary School in the London borough of Newham, so that our children have the opportunities to learn about a different place in the UK and the challenges and opportunities that come with that. The children have already begun to learn about the diverse mix of cultures and different ethnic backgrounds that we have in Britain now and how this school, as an example of that, is very different to our own.

The councillors of both schools spent the day together, getting to know each other, touring our school and enjoying our spacious grounds. Friendships were formed and plans were made to keep in touch and plan a project to work on together. There are plans for a trip to London in the autumn term!

Miss JJ Elliott, who leads the school council at Portway in London said: "Portway London children would like to thank the staff and children of Portway Andover for the exceptional welcome they gave us. We are all very excited about their return visit and we know that we are going to be able to learn so much from each other".
