School Garden
We are very fortunate at Portway to have a garden in the centre of the school that has been developed by children, staff, parents and other members of the community. It provides a way of teaching pupils respect for the outdoor environment as well as giving classes opportunities to get outside and grow all types of plants, fruits and vegetables.
As well as a School Council, Portway pupils run an Eco Council who are proactive within school with issues such as recycling and saving water and electricity. Pupils also have opportunities to become part of the Gardening Clubs that run and, at the end of every school year, the community celebrates the produce grown in the garden.

'School grown' produce is celebrated in different ways and, in the past these have included: a school 'Cook-it Day', the kitchen cooking our produce for hot lunches and participating in the Andover Food Fayre each year!
