Tom Palmer @ Portway
On Monday 23rd May Tom Palmer visited Portway Junior School to talk to us about his top scoring books. To start off each session, Tom quizzed us on our extensive knowledge of football (although he had to quickly resort to the harder questions of the bunch). The second half focused on the footie brainiacs of the year group to try and get a goal past our star goalies to win the dazzling golden reading / goal scorer trophy. Tom then carried on to give every pupil opportunities to ask him some questions. To round off the session, Tom gave us a red and yellow card each as a gift from him to us. After school there was also the opportunity to buy a book and get it autographed. We are very grateful that Tom Palmer came to our school and hope that he can come again - hopefully with some rugby books!
You can read more about Tom Palmer at his website www.tompalmer.co.uk and buy his books at stores such as Waterstones or online at Amazon.

Tom tweeted this message after his visit:
"Fabulous day at @portwayjunior today. The children were so sharp and interested. The teachers up for it. A real pleasure. Thanks to them."
We also received the following in an email:
"Thanks for looking after me so well - and for preparing the kids so well. If every school was as good as yours, it'd be great."
