Year 4 / Victorians at Portway

Victorians at Portway

Victorians at Portway

We dressed as Victorians ready for our Victorian school day at Portway. It was with some trepidation we came to school! In the morning the bell rang, and the boys and girls had to line up separately (what was the point of that?!!).  We went inside to have our hands and nails checked.  After that the teacher told us where to sit and we began the lesson.  First we had to learn the rules.  Later, before break, we wrote about Victorian Christmas in the workhouse.  When we came in from break we did arithmetic and we also sang the National Anthem.  After lunch we did flowing handwriting and had Victorian sponge cake and tea "yum, yum"!  Finally, it came to the end of the school and we were all exhausted, but the day was brilliant.
