Year 5 Swimming

In the Autumn Term, Year 5 had five sessions of swimming at the Andover leisure Centre. Every Wednesday the year group split into two groups and we travelled the short distance to the pool by coach. Our initial session was used for assessment to ensure that the children got the right level of coaching. The next 3 sessions were for developing skills and confidence and on the final visit we assessed again the progress of the children. All sessions were run by leisure centre staff who are trained in this area.

In year 5 we were very fortunate to have parent support each week, either for helping with travel or supporting with getting ready (for CRB holders).

The children thoroughly enjoyed our swimming unit and as we speak, the dates for 2011 - 2012 are being booked. Notification of dates and times for next year will be sent out in the summer term.
