Avon Tyrrell 2025
Blog - Day 1:
What a great first day! After lunch, we all successfully made our beds before starting our first activity. Today, groups took part in high ropes, bottle rockets and adventure trail. It has been wonderful seeing so many smiling faces and the children have got stuck into the activities. Once we had our dinner, we split into two groups and had evening activities: camp fire and a night walk. We have ended the day with a story before settling down for the night. It has been an amazing first day and we are all looking forward to what tomorrow brings.
Blog - Day 2:
It's been a fantastic Tuesday. After fueling up on a cooked breakfast, we embraced the outdoors with some exciting morning activities including pedalos, bushcraft and canoeing. All of the children are starting to step out of their comfort zone and show amazing resilience and determination to achieve some things they didn't think possible. We finished our day dividing into two groups again and completing the other evening activity that we didn't participate in yesterday. They began their wind down with another chapter of our year group read and have gone to bed tired but with a sense of personal achievement. Bring on day three!
Blog - Day 3:
A wonderful Wednesday! We were very excited about a pancake breakfast before starting our activities this morning. Today, many groups showed excellent teamwork and encouragement in low ropes, shelter building and zip wire. It has been brilliant to see all the children continuing to be so positive and giving everything their best go. The adults here, as well as the Avon Tyrrell staff, are extremely proud of the children's resilience and collaboration in their teams. We rounded our day off with a tasty Christmas dinner and a very competitive globe hunt around the grounds. Looking forward to a thrilling Thursday!
Blog - Day 4:
It really was thrilling! Our day started with some great comments from the house and kitchen staff about the impeccable behaviour and manners our children have shown this week. With a frost on the ground, we wrapped up warm and continued with our exciting activities of archery, scavenger hunt and orienteering. Improving our peer coaching skills and developing our trust in each other was the focus today and all children showed integrity in supporting each other on our final full day. Our day ended with a choice: a blindfolded sensory trail through the woods or a quiet evening in with a film. Tomorrow's challenge will be our hardest of them all - packing.
